#BachecaPelosa Il #RICCIO - #PetPost The HEDGEHOG

Potete somministrare acqua e zucchero, e solo successivamente provare a somministrare cibo.

Come aiutare i ricci:

More and more frequently in towns happen to find examples of curly , they are really nice , very habitual and often elicit a great desire to help them.
They are wild animals protected by law, can not be moved or detained except for serious health reasons and must be delivered to the wildlife rehabilitation centers of the zone.

We try to figure out what you need to help animals and which ones should not disturb.
The curls are crepuscular animals , come out of their dens in the late hours of the afternoon and continue traveling throughout the night . If you see a hedgehog during the day is a clear sign that something is wrong for that subject and must therefore be monitored.

Will be recovered by the injured hedgehogs , obvious cuts or abrasions , animals staggering , walking with difficulty or who are lying on your side and are not reactive . By nature, the hedgehog is a prey , so as not to appear weak in the eyes of potential predators tend to conceal his uneasiness. When symptoms are evident it is necessary to intervene in a timely manner , often the conditions are really critical .

E ' therefore necessary to recover the curls you have your eyes closed or encrusted and those that have major infestations by pests, very frequently are those with larvae , it is essential the timely intervention of the competent veterinary surgeon.

If you find litter with mom NOT touch anything ! The mother may be afraid , but if you do not intervene in any way should return to the nest to care for their children ( observed at a safe distance after a few hours the situation ) .
If you find small without a mother , you have to check their overall situation. If they are all together in the nest waiting , the mother could be around to look for food .
If the children are suffering, not very reactive and scattered in the vicinity of the nest must take immediate action.

The curls that are on the side of the road , near drains , traps, or else they can be moved, but leaving them in their area. Warning , this is very important, because the hedgehog in question could be a female and have puppies to look after.

Are to retain and deliver to the nearest center all curly in late October early November did not reach the weight of 550/600 grams, would not survive the ninth hibernation because they would not find enough supplies and in winter the necessary food to feed themselves.
See also worrying sign urchins wandering during the winter . In fact, this period should be hibernating and you should wake up only occasionally . This is a situation to monitor and intervene if necessary.

What do you do when you find a hedgehog in trouble:
Put it in a box with high sides (at least 50 cm) in which you have placed on the bottom of the paper, a Boulle hot water is fine but also a hot water bottle wrapped in paper, which occupy a maximum of half the surface area of the box .
It ' must be placed in a quiet room , with no other animals can disturb them.
Before feeding is necessary that their temperature is stable , the belly to the touch should not be cold .
You can drink water and sugar, and only then try to give food.
The key issue is not improvise care and do not administer any type of medication or flea without having heard the opinion of the veterinarian.
If the hedgehog has hurt the visit of the hedgehog must be done in a day .
Attention to the pools , especially in winter , put in a plank of wood so that if they were to accidentally fall inside can get out using the catwalk.

How to help hedgehogs :
If you know you have in the garden hedgehogs can certainly help in several ways:
- Taking care not to use pesticides or insecticides that are toxic for them
- Leaving at their disposal a pile of leaves or hay
- Bringing food
- Creating feeders and houses .
Hedgehogs tend to be omnivores , you can then administer meat, dry food for cats, small boxes .
To be avoided milk , almonds, cereals and all the ingredients that nature could not find.

Note from the Blogger:
I think I have indirect experience with the curls , because my sister does not know why he always manages to find the children in difficulty and whenever I visit in the winter time I find a box that has one .
From experience I can say that if the center veterinarian asks you to host it for a few days , should not be kept close to the bedrooms , as they wake up at night and begin to turn the box all night .
Cats like to eat the dog food and some vegetables, and if you put a small container (such as a cap of bottled mineral water ) containing water , they understand quickly.
The curls are full of quills to defend themselves from predators , but if handled wisely wounds there , I tried it in person. Maybe the first few times you should wear gloves made of fabric, such as gardening .
Also for experience, if the rescue center urchin shows you how to help hydrate them especially if they are very small ( very often , the best thing to have injections of saline) and perhaps ask a different alternative to be administered by mouth. The cute hedgehog is very hard if you do not know how to do, I assure you that we have tried several times but their skin is so tough that bends the needle without scalfirli , while the vet obviously prepared with a game manages to pull here and leave it there to inject the first time.
Last thing, in case you are thinking erroneously that are cute as pets. Think again ! In addition to being wild animals and then suffer in the house (and illegal) their droppings give off a terrible stench ! (of course this fact in nature is totally superfluous , but inside the house I assure you that it is not) .
